Day 1. Caracas - Canaima – Angel Falls (LD)
ZArrival to Canaima from Puerto Ordaz or Ciudad Bolivar. Assistance at the airstrip. Transfer to Ucaima Port to take a curiara through the Carrao River. At the Mayupa rapids it may be necessary to walk for about 20 min. and let the crew haul the empty canoe through them. Short time after beginning your journey, you will be dazzled by the majestic Auyantepuy, home of the Angel Falls, standing still as medieval fortress of gigantic dimensions. Its impressive walls shelter the river from both sides. Once inside the Canyon, the Angel Falls appear in all its majesty when the boat approaches Ratoncito Island. Lunch in the open forest. Once in the camp board another curiara up until the point where you will walk to Laime lookout point. Enjoy a nice bath on the pool formed by the waterfall on its way down. Return to the camp, or relax going swimming in the Churun River. Dinner and overnight in hammocks at the camp in front of this magic scenery. (Lodge with bedrooms is also available for little groups).
ALB-S401 EXPEDITION TO THE LOST WORLD: THE ANGEL FALLS
This unique experience is going to take you to see one of the marvelous nature spectacles on earth, The Highest Waterfall in the World: The Angel Falls. The waterfall receives its name from the North American pilot and gold digger Jimmy Angel, who crashed his plane on the summit of the Tepuy. The re-making of the route will take you inside the mysterious Devil’s Canyon, an enormous gorge that nearly divides the Auyantepuy (mountain of the Devil in the Indian language). Prepare to observe one of the most breathtaking views: The Angel Falls. Enjoy the sight of this astonishing formation against a clear starry sky.
